Capt. Raj Mohindra
Capt Mohindra is the Managing Director of Raj Mohindra Consultants Pvt Ltd, one of India’s leading educational consultancy firms that specialises in planning and setting up new educational institutions.
Capt Mohindra was one of the Founder Directors of the Mahindra United World College of India (MUWCI), its first CEO and Project Director and was associated with the UWC movement in India from 1982 to 1998. Her Majesty Queen Noor of Jordan, President of UWCs, awarded Capt Mohindra a special commendation "in recognition of his outstanding skill, courage, selflessness and absolute determination in the accomplishment of this long-standing dream. His commitment is exemplary within the history of United World Colleges." His role in setting up a UWC in India was also commended by HRH the Prince of Wales, the former President of the UWCs.
Capt Mohindra was formerly the Chief Executive, Indian Express Group of Newspapers, Mumbai, Director, India Supply Mission, London, Deputy Naval Advisor to the High Commission of India, Commander (S) in INS Vikrant (India’s first aircraft carrier) and General Manager (Commercial), Shipping Corporation of India.
Dr K. Subramaniam
K. Subramaniam is Associate Professor of mathematics education at the Homi Bhabha Centre for Science Education, Tata Institute of Fundamental Research in Mumbai, India. His main area of work for the last decade and a half is research on how the learning and teaching of school mathematics can be improved. His current research focus is on core topics in middle school mathematics such as fractions, ratio and proportion, algebra and geometric measurement. He conducts workshops for teachers on various aspects of mathematics teaching, and designs in-service programs for the professional development of mathematics teachers. He is on the subject board for the faculty of science education at the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research, and on the Academic Coordination Committee for the collaborative M.A. in Elementary Education program of the Tata Institute of Social Sciences. He is the author of a textbook and teachers’ book of the Homi Bhabha Curriculum for Grade 3 Mathematics. He has been a member of the National Focus Group for the teaching of mathematics and the syllabus committees of the National Curriculum Framework (2005).
He has a B Tech in Aeronautical Engineering from IIT Madras, and an MA and a PhD in Philosophy from IIT Bombay. His PhD dissertation was on aspects of the Philosophy of History, with a focus on the continental philosopher Heidegger. Earlier, he worked as a scientist at the DRDO and has taught mechanical engineering for three years at the college level.
Dr Mohsin Ahmed
Mohsin has 20 years of experience as a software engineer at Google, Microsoft, SASKen, and Synopsys.
While at Google, he helped build the Google encyclopedia called Knol, which is a collection of user-written articles, much like Wikipedia. The project involved website design, knowledge management, classifying information into categories, automatic translations, converting text to speech, spam detection, and user identification for ranking and rating knowledge documents. At Microsoft, he worked on the networking of Windows, specifically TCP/IP programming for Windows.
Mohsin has a B Tech and a PhD in Computer Science from IIT Bombay. His PhD thesis was on the Logic of Knowledge and Time. He studied how knowledge could be processed and stored in a computer. He investigated the problem of how people deal with temporal reasoning, and how a computer could carry out the same reasoning.
